So many people frown at the idea of a root canal, but it is actually a wonderful remedy to help save a tooth. In fact, it is no more painful or challenging than a traditional tooth filling. If you need a root canal, we help maintain your natural tooth so you can keep it healthy and strong for many years to come.
When a cavity is caught early enough, it can often be repaired with a small dental filling. However, when decay becomes more severe, it can often cause pain, causing a cracked tooth. When this occurs, you may need a root canal to preserve the tooth. The “dreaded” root canal is now no more than a simple procedure thanks to your expert dentist, Dr. Sugiki. Root canal therapy is essentially painless as our office proudly delivers advanced technology and treatment. A root canal involves removing the pulp of the tooth that is made up of nerves, blood vessels and tissue. The pulp chamber and canals are then cleaned, disinfected and filled to prevent bacteria from entering. Often, you will need a dental crown to complete the procedure and preserve the tooth.
There are several causes of needing a root canal. The most common cause is deep dental caries that cause the tooth to become infected. Other causes are dental trauma, repeated dental treatment that causes the pulp to get inflamed or infected and if a tooth cracks and cannot be restored without a root canal. Treatment at Sugiki Implant and Family Dentistry will not only put you out of pain, but restore your optimal dental health!
