If you have a large enough cavity, a filling may not protect the tooth from breaking down or cracking. In this case, Dr. Sugiki may recommend a dental crown will also help restore a tooth that has been worn down or where there is not sufficient tooth left. There are crowns for children’s teeth if they have a large enough cavity or need a baby root canal (pulpotomy).
Typically, dental crowns will require a few visits to our office. First, you’ll see us for a consultation to determine if crowns are the right solution for you. If so, Dr. Sugiki will prep your tooth to make enough room for a crown so that they will fit perfectly. Do not worry about gagging from a plaster impression! We offer advanced technology, an Itero scanner to guarantee your experience is top of the line. You’ll also avoid any sensitivity or going home with irregularly shaped teeth – Dr. Sugiki will fit you with temporary crowns to ensure that you’ll be able to eat properly and look good while your custom crowns are being made. Then, when your crowns come back from our state-of-the-art laboratory, Dr. Sugiki will insert them using a special type of bonding cement. A simple and comfortable way to ensure your smile is attractive, healthy and long lasting!
